Vermont Landscape Photography

When I moved to Vermont in 1984 I wasn’t sure if I was going to like photographing here.  I had spent nine years living in Utah and Idaho and was used to the grand landscape and big skies.  It took me all of one weekend to determine that I loved photographing Vermont!  The great variety of lighting quickly won me over.  Add to that all the lakes, streams, mountains, barns, stone walls, covered bridges, foliage, wildlife, quaint towns and seasonal changes-- you just don’t have to go far to find something to photograph in Vermont!

I try to make all my photos works of art.   My goal is to capture an emotional feeling, and translate it to a two dimensional piece of paper.  Photography has gotten very easy now, in terms of just reproducing the scene before you.  But photographing an emotion remains as difficult as ever.  For many people just thinking of Vermont evokes a good feeling (it certainly does for me.)  I try to capture that feeling in a way that can be enjoyed by others.
