Many of Jaclyn’s designs are inspired by myths, legend and the history of various cultures in addition to what she has experienced. Also inspired by verbal concepts, the visual contents of Julia’s work become illustrations for a story. Once an idea is visually realized, a design may lose touch with its narrative sources and owe more to the dynamics of form. This may result in unusual or absurd juxtapositions.
