       Contemporary Folk Art/Sculpture

I use a narrative form to depict familiar, under appreciated and possibly unnoticed symbols of collective unconscious.

A successful piece might recall some past vignette-real or imagined.

This identity gives each piece its humor or personality.

I communicate using paint and wood.  And other acquired things.  Recollections present themselves as subject matter whenever I see a visual cue.  The trick is to get it down in some tangible form before it slips away.

I call myself a folk artist because I can sense how to put together what I want to present, but have no formal training in wood.  I do have a B.A. in fine arts with postgraduate courses in painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, which makes the dichotomy interesting.

With my partner, Jim Barner, our business wholesaled wall art and sculpture to national galleries.  But now he collects bits from society that I may incorporate into one of a kind pieces. We have a studio in our barn that is open by appointment.

Our work has been mentioned in: American Style Magazine; Niche Magazine; WCVB-TV (ABC television), Needham MA. "Chronicle" magazine program on Brandon,Vermont,  Interviewed with work, filmed at my gallery. 2007, Rerun 2008; Seven Days, Burlington, VT.; The Sunday Rutland Herald and The Sunday Times Argus; Burlington Free Press, Burlington, VT.; The Mountain Times, Killington VT.; Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Boston MA
